Pastoral Staff Recommendations

Oak Park Family,

On Sunday, May 7th, Pastor Chase shared the Elders' desire to make two pastoral staff recommendations to be voted on Sunday, June 25th after the worship service. These two pastoral candidates would join the existing Elder body giving leadership and oversight to the affairs of the church. With the formal recommendation of the Elders, we ask the following of you, the congregation: (1) take time to familiarize yourself with these two candidates; (2) be intentional to speak with the Elders and/or the Pastor Search Advisory team if you have questions about the process and selection of these candidates; and (3) pray that God would make his will known through the hearts of his people.

Recommendation # 1:

The Elders, in conjunction with the Pastor Search Advisory Team, would like to call Chris West as the Worship and Young Adult Pastor. Chris’s pastoral responsibilities will pertain to (1) working in conjunction with the Pastor-Teacher to give oversight to the worship services of the church, with a particular focus on the music; and (2) overseeing the young adult ministry as the primary avenue of outreach and discipleship for adults between the ages of 18-25.

Chris is married to his wife Jennifer, and together they have five children: Brandon, Logan, Maddie, Allie, and Ryan. The Wests joined Oak Park on September 11, 2016, and have served in the college and worship ministry. Prior to coming to Oak Park Chris served as the Worship Pastor for seven years at Church in the Wildwood in Eagle River Alaska. Chris is also a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary seeking a Master of Divinity in Worship Leadership.

Pastor Search Advisory Team: David Lewis, Dana Paul, Whitney Weaver, Kirby O’Brien, Joel Foster, and Kaitlyn Schrock.

Recommendation # 2:

The Elders would also like to call Joshua Page as a Pastor at Oak Park. Joshua has served on staff since May 2015 as the Deacon of Students and Children. By joining the Elders, Joshua will be able to support the vision of Oak Park Baptist Church at a greater capacity. His pastoral duties will focus on the families of the church, leading the primary avenues of discipleship and evangelism for their students and children.

Over the past three years, Joshua has undergone intensive pastoral training with Pastor Chase. His studies have covered the equivalent of a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry. Coupled with the ministry experience gained while serving on staff, the Elders joyfully affirm his calling to Pastoral ministry here at Oak Park. Joshua is married to Angela, and together they have one child (Ezra) but are expecting another baby boy in July.
